The design inspiration for this Appetiser comes from Aquileia, a Unesco World Heritage Archeological Area in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. I was fortunate to visit the site in 2017 as a participant of Helen Bodycomb’s Northern Italy Mosaic Study Tour. 

Visiting Aquileia was one of my many ‘eyes wide open’ mosaic experiences.

Thanks to the encouragement, slide nights and storytelling of my globally adventurous parents, I have loved travel from an early age. Having also fallen in love with mosaic, I’ve learnt that the two go hand in hand and have now travelled extensively to witness first hand the wonders of this ancient art.

So, it is with great pleasure that I bring to you the Unswept Floor Mosaic Fragment from Aquileia and if inspired, perhaps you may like to tackle the Andamento Appetiser.
