ANDAMENTO ACADEMY

The Art of Andamento is for me, the go to site for all aspects of learning the art of mosaics. Lead by Caitlin Hepworth, an award-winning international mosaic artist and an excellent teacher, you learn about the many facets of mosaics. Moving through the various course levels Caitlin leads you through mosaic history, traditions, the rules one needs to know, techniques, materials, design and colour theory. There is so much to learn about this ancient art form and for me the Art of Andamento is without doubt the place to take this mosaic journey.

The courses are very well planned, the quality of the videos is excellent, and you are a member of an enthusiastic and supportive international group. It really has it all.

My passion for mosaics began eight years ago, when my sister, who lives in Germany, and I travelled to Ravenna to participate in a mosaic class. From that very first experience, we were captivated by the art form and eager to continue exploring it together.

Over the past year, the Art of Andamento Academy has flourished thanks to the hard work of Caitlin, Jim and the team. The quality of the materials and resources available is outstanding, and the amount of information accessible to members is truly impressive. Caitlin is an exceptionally knowledgeable and generous teacher, and the wide range of resources provided covers every aspect of the craft.

The programme offers monthly live Q&A sessions, giving members the opportunity to ask questions and engage in in-depth discussions. there is also a comprehensive 'How to' video library and a variety of 'Mini Courses' that cover most of the essential techniques to embark on your mosaic journey. Additionally, quarterly live meet-ups enable members to connect, get to know one another, and discuss their work in person.

Caitlin has consistently encouraged and challenged me to pursue new projects, and I feel that I have grown significantly in my mosaic journey. I am eager to continue learning and am excited for what lies ahead.

I've been a member of the Academy since the beginning and am constantly impressed by the amount and quality of the content, which is always growing. There are so many areas to explore, all professionally filmed and well organised. I've been able to consolidate my existing skills and try many new methods and materials which I would not have done otherwise. I particularly like the live online Q and A sessions and Mini Courses which are presented by Caitlin and other experienced mosaicists who are incredibly generous in sharing their hard won expertise. The international meet ups and community padlets are such a wonderful way for us to connect with other mosaicists of all levels and encourage, critique and get to know each other. The Academy is really a dynamic, living thing, a totally different experience from a self-learn online course. Caitlin and team foster such an atmosphere of mutual respect, support and creative sharing - it's stimulating, challenging and a lot of fun! Given the quality and quantity of content, it's also great value: I can only recommend that anyone of any level join up!

Caitlin has built a winning team with Jim Stewart, her tech-savvy partner. The Andamento Academy, amongst other offerings, gives mosaicists who have a particular interest, bent or skill a way of sharing that with a world-wide community, by connecting people in chats online. There is lots of opportunity to engage in Q & A’s, as these sessions are live. They are also recorded for future listening for members if the time-zone doesn’t suit. I have learned so very much by attending these chats.  It has made all the benefits of Caitlin’s local Australian mosaic “club” available to practitioners/students from all the corners of the world!  It is generosity par excellence!

My advice? Don’t hesitate – just join!

As a former live online learning student, joining AoA has been invaluable. It’s deepened my connection with mosaicists worldwide, with live events and Level Huddles offering real support and inspiration. The courses are beautifully produced, rich with resources, and benefit artists at every level.

As an enthusiastic mosaic student, I often felt lost moving from one project workshop to another without a clear path forward. Finding Art of Andamento was such a thrill—the comprehensive, structured curriculum makes me feel like I’m attending a real art school, giving me the foundation to grow into the artist I want to be. I especially love the self-paced, excellent videos combined with the personal feedback from Caitlin and the wider community through live events and online interaction. It’s inspiring, supportive, and exactly what I had been searching for.

Caitlin is a natural teacher, and I am constantly amazed by the lengths she goes to in order to answer members' questions or to help someone make a choice regarding a particular project. I love sailing aboard the “Ark” of Andamento as I like to call it. It is a really special part of my life.

As I progress to a more advanced level, the constant flow of information added to the academy on a regular basis means I will never stop learning and will always stay motivated. The depth and quality of the live Question and Answer sessions and Mini Courses are exceptional. I never miss out if I can’t attend, as I can always review the professionally curated recordings. I have found the Art of Andamento community to be a welcoming space where artists of all levels can share, learn, and grow together. I've not only learned new techniques but also found a supportive network that constantly inspires me to push my work to the next level.
