Enrolment Questions

Why are the prices in $USD when you are an Australian Company?

We are currently charging in $USD as this is an international curriculum with students enrolling all over the world.

We find that most students understand the value of their currency against the USD, whereas AUD is less widely understood.

I previously completed the live online classes. Why should I have to buy the level again when I have already paid for it?

As a previous student you receive a 50% discount on any unit or level that you have previously enrolled in under the Hepworth Studios live online platform. Please contact info@artofandamento.com for the discount code.

The re-released version of the curriculum is significantly larger in terms of time and content, with professionally produced video of all theory presentations, drawing and making activities as well as including updated resources.

The current model is permanently accessible to students and is sold as a product, whereas the previous version was sold as a service, and was delivered live, and only accessible for a limited time.

I am registered for GST. Where can I get an invoice with the GST itemised.

All students receive an invoice/receipt via email at the point of sale. We absorb the GST for Australian students and do not add GST onto the price.

If you require more information on your invoice, please contact us at accounts@artofandamento.com and we will send you an additional copy.

My partner and I both want to take the courses & We live together. Do we both have to pay?

No, if you are within the same household you can use the same login and complete the content together. Couples that play together stay together 🙂

Can I share my log in with my students and friends?

No, The profile is for one household or user only. Frequent logins from multiple IP addresses will be blacklisted and blocked by the Firewall.

This is not for me. Can I get a refund?

Yes, we offer a 14 day money back guarantee. Just let us know through your dashboard that you would like to cancel, or email us at accounts@artofandamento.com and we will be in contact about a full or pro rata refund depending on the product in question.

I cannot finish the course?..Life happens!

Once you purchase an AOA course you have lifetime access to the content.

Hopefully life will allow you to come back to it at another time.

I have purchased the Level 1 Bundle and I want to cancel it. Can I get a refund?

You are always eligible for the 14-day money back guarantee.

After that time if you have purchased the bundle at the discounted price and wish to cancel part way through, you will receive a pro-rata refund less the full price of the units that have been released.

For example, if unit 1 and 2 are released, but units 3,4,5 are not, you will retain permanent access to units 1 and 2 and will receive a refund for the remainder.

This cancellation and refund is processed manually so please contact us through your dashboard to start this process.

Content questions

I already have mosaic experience, why do I need to start at Level 1?

Please remember that Level 1 is titled ‘A Taste of the Classics’, not ‘Mosaic for Beginners’. This is because classical mosaic offers the first formal set of parameters for the practice of mosaic.

You do not have to start at Level 1, however there is plenty of room for differentiation and extension within the units of work.

For increasing difficulty, try using more challenging materials & cutting tools or reducing the scale.

Having made everything personally I can tell you it is certainly not as easy as it looks.

I am only interested in Contemporary Mosaic, When can I learn about that?

Contemporary Mosaic is built on many of the skills learnt in Level 1, 2 and 3 of the Art of Andamento Curriculum.

  • Level 1 brings in some of the most important classical principles that under pin contemporary practice.
  • Level 2 introduces additional contemporary techniques such as creating volume, scaling, flaring, using negative space and contemporary cutting.
  • Level 3 introduces colour in a formal and structured way.

These three levels unify to take students forward in whichever way they choose.

Levels 4, 5, 6 and beyond move in a contemporary direction.

I see there are lots of drawing exercises and I can’t draw. Does that matter?

The drawing activities mostly consist of drawing patterns into templates.

You do not need to understand artistic drawing techniques in levels 1- 4.

What if I don’t have mosaic tools or supplies?

AOA provides a comprehensive materials lists for each unit along with a ‘Where to Buy’ resource to help you to locate what you need.

If all else fails, tasks can be completed with almost anything including pencil, cardboard, scissors and a glue stick.

Do I receive a certificate for completing the Levels in this Curriculum?

Yes, this is something we are working on. Watch this space.. I don’t want to award certificates for simply buying the course, I want students to really complete it.

When available, certificates will also be issued retrospectively to previous students who have completed the curriculum.

Are the courses delivered live or pre-recorded?

The course content is presented as a pre-recorded video series. There are further opportunities to participate in Live Q&A through the Andamento Academy Membership Program. See Membership Q&A at the bottom of this page.

I am a teacher, can I teach this curriculum to my students?

Whilst I hope that the skills you acquire as a student of the curriculum will filter through to your teaching, at this time we do not have an option for schools to enrol.

You are welcome to share, stream and coach your students through the free Taster Tutorial and to distribute the FREE Andamento Appetiser, however distributing the paid course resources, templates and content is not ethical teaching practice.

In time we hope to be able to provide an option for teachers, whereby you can gain extra support to present the program to your students who would enrol as part of your group. They would be mentored by you, and you would be mentored by AoA.

If this is of interest to you please contact us at info@artofandamento.com

Do I have to do all the units, or can I select what is relevant to me?

No, you do not have to do all the units, you can pick and choose what is relevant to you and meets your learning needs.

Do I have to start at level 1 or can I jump in later at Levels 2 or 3.

You can jump in at Level 2 or 3 if that suits your needs and experience.

Level 4 and above have a prerequisite of Level 3 or equivalent study.

How can I receive feedback on my work?

No personal feedback is provided through the course program.

Students can access additional support and resources by joining the Andamento Academy Membership Program.

See AoA Membership FAQ below.

Can I ask questions if I don’t understand something in the course?

Yes you can lodge a support form with a content related or technical question at anytime throughout the course. You will find a link to the form in the side bar of the course content which is available at all times whilst in the course platform.

But I don't agree with you...

Whilst I do my best to get my facts right and research using the best sources I can there will be times when what I say may be different to what you have been taught elsewhere or different to information in a mosaic book that you have read.

From my experience with various authors, guides, specialists and esteemed teachers around the world, I can say for certain that not everyone agrees with each other.

Sometimes one professional will greatly oppose the view of another professional.

Terminology is used differently over time and in different places. Different teachers focus on different things as being important.

In general, I recommend diversity in learning and building your own tool box of knowledge which combines the best of your learning experiences.

Does this curriculum replace face to face learning?

No, I would never suggest that this Curriculum is a one stop shop.

There are lots of things that are best experienced in a physical studio or on an installation site.

Skills are best learnt over time from a variety of sources.

The benefits of face to face classes, community mosaic interactions, specialty workshops and different points of view are all extremely valuable.

Being a good student equals being open to receive what the teacher is offering. Every teacher has their own gift, it’s up to them to deliver it, and up to you to receive it, digest it and process it in your data base of mosaic knowledge.

accessibility questions

I have some limitations that make it difficult to cut tesserae, Is there a way that I can still complete the curriculum?

Whilst using stone, ceramic or glass tesserae is a better way to learn, you can achieve a similar level of understanding by using paper or cardboard cut into tesserae shapes with scissors. Even watching and completing the drawing exercises will expand your knowledge significantly.
