PART C : WATER
Water is a vital element in our world and has inspired artistic expression since the dawn of civilisation. In this course, we explore how water has been represented in art and mosaic across cultures and historical periods, examining the rich symbolism it carries, from life and renewal to depth and mystery.
Through guided theoretical investigations, you will trace the evolution of water imagery and uncover the meanings artists have woven into their work.
Our practical component centres on small mosaic studies, each designed to build your skills in rendering water’s unique qualities:
Students will select a minimum of three.
- Shimmering Water – capturing movement and light on the surface
- Flowing Water – Capturing the movement of water in a stream
- Aerial View of Water – exploring patterns and abstraction from above
- Bubbles Rising – capturing bubbles as they rise through water
- Reflections on Water – portraying depth and mirrored images
- Ripples of Water – Capturing ripples in a pond or puddle
- Splash – The energy and movement in a splash of water
By the end of this course, you will gain both a deeper understanding of water’s significance in art and greater confidence in creating mosaics that evoke its variable surfaces.

- Written feedback is supplied through the class Padlet and general feedback through the live lesson.
Intermediate Levels 4, 5, 6 & 7 are offerred Live Online based on expressions of interest from eligible and interested students.
