LEVEL 5 : EXPLORING GENRE
PART A : STILL LIFE
Level 5: Exploring Genre is the fifth level in the Art of Andamento: Curriculum for Mosaic.
Level 5 is a thematic class for intermediate level students who have completed the Andamento Level 3 course or equivalent.
Level 5 brings together and extends skills learnt in previous levels.
All tasks are underpinned with visual arts theory, including discussion of a range of artists and artforms working in the area of focus.
Students undertake theoretical research as well as practical exercises in a range of materials.
Level 5 has multiple parts, each investigating different genres in visual arts and mosaic including Still Life, Landscape, Water & The Built Environment.
Students examine the development of the genre over time often going back to the bronze and classical age.
It is interesting to understand how nothing is really new in art, humans are interested in expressing the same subjects, over and over again, in different ways, in different mediums, attaching meaning and building visual narratives of a personal, spiritual, political, cultural or historical nature.
