LEVEL 5 BANNER

LEVEL 5 : EXPLORING GENRE

OVERVIEW

Level 5: Exploring Genre is the fifth stage in the Art of Andamento curriculum, designed for intermediate students who have completed Level 3 or equivalent training.
This thematic level consolidates and builds upon foundational skills, guiding students through a deeper engagement with visual language and mosaic practice.

Each module within Level 5 focuses on a specific genre, including Still Life, Landscape, Water and the Built Environment – examining the genre’s development across time, from ancient to contemporary art.
Students investigate how these enduring themes continue to inspire artists, offering new interpretations through different materials and cultural lenses.

The course combines theoretical research with hands-on exploration in a variety of materials.
All tasks are grounded in visual arts theory and enriched by the study of relevant artists and art forms. Students are encouraged to explore the ways that recurring subjects in art carry personal, spiritual, political, and cultural meaning, forming powerful visual narratives that transcend time.

Intermediate Levels 4, 5, 6 & 7 are offerred Live Online based on expressions of interest from eligible and interested students.
